The Color Purple showing in Las Vegas

The Color Purple is set to a joyous groove featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel and the blues. It is a story of hope, and a testament to the healing power of love and a celebration of life.  It has been deemed one of the most uplifting and thrilling nights of theater in years.  This beautiful story will be showing in the U.S. this year and stopping over in Las Vegas for a bit.

At first people were hesitant to bring this story to a Broadway show. It has a rich plot but people wondered how musical theater would treat the story that spans 4 decades and deals with infanticide, domestic violence, racial oppression, and spiritual crisis. Furthermore the producer did not want to be in the shadow of the Spielberg movie. It took the producer eight years to write the Broadway show and decided the best way to honor the story was through the music and song.

There will be eight showings in Las Vegas starting Tuesday April 3 with nightly showings at 7:30 and a matinee showing on Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm as well as nightly showings. Tickets range in price from $24 - $129.
