Fourth of July in Las Vegas
What comes to mind when you think of the experience of the Fourth of July in Las Vegas? Freedom. It’s the freedom to drink, eat, gamble, listen to music, enjoy fireworks, and celebrate America. The Fourth of July is one of the most happening summer events in Las Vegas, along with the famed World Series of Poker. Events change from year to year but those visiting Vegas during the fourth weekend can expect to have a fair share of live music concerts, DJ performances, comedy acts, gambling, and of course, fireworks. And the cool thing about Vegas is firework spots abound, from the rooftops of Caesar’s Palace to the tracks of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Before getting to Vegas, be sure to check what is happening during the whole weekend and plan out what you want to do and see.
Fireworks
During the Fourth of July weekend, the main fireworks displays typically go off on July 3rd and July 4th. Hotels in Las Vegas like the Hilton put on intimate fireworks shows while Caesar’s Palace blast off fireworks for the whole Vegas strip to enjoy. Another very popular stage for fireworks is Mandalay Bay Beach, where guests can enjoy tropical drinks silhouetted by a colorful fireworks display in the sky. A few of the casinos in Las Vegas also offer smaller, free fireworks displays.
Another fireworks presentation that has gained a lot of fame happens at Lake Las Vegas. At this performance, fireworks shoot off into the sky in quick succession and spectacular style for roughly 15 minutes. The addition of music adds to the experience.
Music
The nightlife in Vegas during this weekend is truly a blast. Music is one of the main forms of entertainment, as concerts start as early as the first of July and go until the fifth of July. Many clubs in Las Vegas like Chateau and Marquee feature internationally known DJ’s and other music performances. In 2011, DJ Khaled put on a heart-throbbing, unstoppable jam at Chateau and Fatboy Slim played at Marquee. A lot of bars in Vegas like Red Square will also have smaller, more personal concerts. The House of Blues will always have several concerts over the weekend.
Casinos and hotels may have something in terms of music going on as well. In 2011, Rihanna gave an electrifying and seductive concert at Mandalay Bay. Other places like the Freemont Street Experience, Stratosphere Tower, Palms Casino, Mirage Casino, and so on will have music entertainment.
Comedy
The Fourth of July is a great weekend to laugh. Shows are going on all weekend at places such as the Orleans Showroom, Bonkerz Comedy Club, Treasure Island, The Joint, Laughter Hours, MGM Grand and others. Recent weekends have seen the likes of Joe Rogan, Kathy Griffin, Jamie Foxx, Bill Maher, Billy Gardell and Carlos Mencia. If you want to see a comedy act, look up who is coming during that specific year and decide which one you want to see.
Parties
Many celebrities host parties at clubs, pools, bars, and other settings. Many other drinking establishments also have holiday parties and special events. One cool event is the $100 Hotties at Rockhouse, where the first ten groups of five ladies plus get awarded a $100 bar tab. You can’t beat that deal. Just be sure to wear red, white, and blue.
Recent celebrity party hosts have included the likes of basketball star Lebron James, former porn star Sasha Grey, Jay Z, Ciara, Rob Kardashian, Jermaine Dupri, Gretchen Rossi, and others. Again, if you plan on partying throughout the weekend, plan according to your budget and interests. Some of these parties have high entrance fees and drink prices, and hence make the price of a Vegas trip much more.
Fights
You can also attend UFC fights and Vegas boxing matches. Expect the MGM Grand to have a championship UFC fight or a big boxing match happening. The intensity and rawness of the sin city makes boxing and UFC fighting popular sports in Vegas. If you are in the mood to watch a fight, the Fourth of July weekend will satisfy that desire.
Other Events
There are an endless amount of things to do. Barbeques at the Freemont Street Experience and various hotel pools are usually available. There is usually an All American Girls Pageant or Hottest Patriot Contest, where the finest and most American of Vegas girls compete. Poker tournaments and other gambling deals are always offered by Vegas’ most popular casinos.
