Star Ratings in Las Vegas

An Overview

While there is a certain expectation of Las Vegas resorts conveyed in American popular culture, it is actually a diverse area with tremendous variety in the types and quality of lodging accommodations. Keeping this in mind, it is recommended that those planning to visit Las Vegas should research and familiarize themselves with the types of accommodations offered around the city. A good way to find out important information on the hundreds of hotels around Las Vegas is through the popular star rating system common in the tourism industry.

Las Vegas 5 Star Hotels

Not only do these four star resorts feature luxurious rooms and customer service, but there is unprecedented guest access to upscale pools, world-class entertainment as well as full-service business centers and high-end, up-scale restaurants.

The five star rated hotel, the tip top of the scale, the highest and best hotel you can book. For those looking for five star accommodations in Las Vegas, there are plenty of choices from which to choose. These hotels are often the peak of Las Vegas' luxury accommodations like: The Bellagio, Wynn Las Vegas and Venetian are the most popular five star resorts in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas 4 Star Hotels

Looking at how travel websites describe the four star resort, very little separates the four star from the five star resort. These hotels each offer high-end rooms with plentiful guest access to entertainment, nightclubs, shopping and high-end pools. A number of these resorts, but not all, offer guest access to business centers.

The next step below the luxury and class of the five hotel is the four star. While many of the five star hotels are not the most family friendly of accommodations, there is a wide variety of four star lodgings in Las Vegas. Families may want to book a stay at the Luxor, MGM Grand or New York-New York, all of which are four star, family friendly hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. Those traveling without children may want to book a stay at the trendy Caesars Palace or Mandalay Bay, which provide luxury accommodations at four star rates.

Las Vegas 3 Star Hotels

What distinguishes three star hotels is an emphasis on standard rooms and customer service. Each offers guests lounge-style entertainment (or better), standard pools are available, as well as at least one restaurant and/or buffet. There are some additional amenities like business centers or fitness centers.

Examining the three star hotels in Las Vegas, a number of these resorts on the Strip are older and less elaborate. Some notable three star hotels in Las Vegas are Excalibur, Imperial Palace and Circus Circus. These hotels are a great choice for those visiting Las Vegas on a budget, rooms at these casinos can be booked for under $100.00 a night on the weekend. Those visiting during the week can often book rooms for under $50.00 a night.

Las Vegas 2 Star Hotels

The two star hotel offers basic rooms. At this level of lodgings, guests begin to sacrifice the popular amenities of the more luxurious hotels and casinos. Lounge entertainment and casinos are sometimes available, while most have access to at least one restaurant. The most often cited amenities are pools and fitness areas.

Those looking for the simpler two star accommodations in Las Vegas may need to look a little harder to book rooms. Some of the most popular two star hotels are the America's Best Value Inn and Suites, the El Cortez Hotel and Casino and the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. Many of these casinos, which can often be booked for less than $50.00 a night, are found off the Las Vegas strip. The historic El Cortez Hotel and Casino is located right in downtown Las Vegas, just a short walk from Freemon Street.

Las Vegas 1 Star Hotels

The one star hotel provides budget travelers with no-frills accommodations with their most general and basic needs being met and clean, basic rooms.
